The innovative machined base fence design delivers long term fence straightness by providing additional support to the fence. The DW718 is designed to accept the DW7187 DEWALT Adjustable Miter Saw Laser System which delivers visibility to the cut path. The saw can be beveled to the left 0° – 48° and to the right 0° – 48° with positive stops at 0°, 22.5°, 33.9° and 45°. So firstly i’ll preface this with some background about myself. I am a mechanic. I have been interested in work that involves using my hands my whole life. I love figuring out how things work and taking things apart. I do not have a below average intelligence quotient. I don’t get confused or stuck in a room when I go to open a door and find it to be locked. I know how to read instruction manuals and frequently do. So, with those things being said I will begin my review.
Everything about this saw is very high quality. Firstly the details. The fit and finish of all the components screams quality. The slide action is effortless. Adjustments and the locking components therein are very easy and intuitive to use. Very nicely designed. The power cord is very nice and pliable and of high quality. My first project was to build some shelves out of cedar and it cut through the boards like butter. Very easy to adjust and effortless to use. I cant wait to get the laser insert. That will make this thing super cool. In summary. If you have the money and frequently read instructions, this is a fantastic saw. Don’t hesitate on this unit. I don’t think you will be disappointed. I have this saw and an Hitachi C12FDH. Both saws are awesome. Had the C12 first, but then realized I needed something to cut wider boards. Flipping the boards over on the C12 didn’t do it for me. Bought this saw to make a platform for my shed with planks. This saw is hands down awesome. It slides like butter and the vertical handle, while a little awkward for pure chop saw cuts, makes the sliding motion even smoother. The included blade is not bad. ( S. Kim S.K )

My son and I did our very first crown moulding on 2 bedrooms using this saw.The best feature is the LED work light system. With no adjustment it automatically illuminates the area and casts a perfect shadow where the blade will cut. The 12″ blade also gives plenty of width capacity. The job turned out fantastic. We watched a lot of YouTube videos to prepare and I’ve done some finnish carpentry before. A contract painter said the job looked better than a lot of professional contractor’s work. ( Zombie )

The motor is nice and powerful and can easily cut through pressure treated 4×4 posts, 2x4s, you name it it cuts through it with ease. And the saw itself adjusts to pretty much any angle and beveling degree you can possibly need.

Good saw. Well made. Nice blade that comes with it too. I had to cut baseboards with it so I went out and bought an expensive 60 tooth blade, but thankfully before I put it on I tried the blade that comes with the saw. It cut the baseboards without splintering the wood at all. ( D. Lazar )
